Traveler's Notebook DIY
Hello lovely readers! Today I'm sharing a little way to spruce up a traveler's notebook for your documenting this summer (or anytime, really)! It's perfect because you can just splice in mixed media paper and include lots of little bits and pieces throughout this book. Keep reading to see how I did it!
Pick Your Notebook
I went to my local Michael's and passed these lovely String Journals from the Boho collection by Recollections. Unfortunately they don't have them listed online for me to link for you but I'm sure if you pop into the scrapbooking section at your store you'll be able to find them! They have a multitude of colors for the notebooks so choose one of your liking! They come with a suede string with 2 charms and a leather cover with two paper booklet inserts.
Customize Your String Tie
The first thing I did was remove the two charms from the original suede string tie. I just didn't think they were right for my notebook. I wanted to replace them with tassels instead! I picked up some mini tassels from the checkout aisle at Michael's for only $1.50. You can't go wrong with that! It came with a bunch of them but I went with two for my notebook since there was existing hardware to connect two from the charms I removed. I threaded a needle with quadrupled thread and knotted the tassel to the existing metal ring that I closed up with pliers after removing the charms. Once knotted firmly, I snipped the extra and voila - tassel tie!
Bejewel Your Notebook
The lucky last thing is to add some sparkle to your book! The last thing I snagged for this DIY from Michael's was two sets of Rhinestones (also in that checkout aisle for $1.50 - I'm telling you it was fate). I chose perfectly square ones because well, I like things organized and symmetrical but there were plenty of other options if these don't float your boat! They come with adhesive already on the back so all you have to do is arrange them in a pattern of your choosing and voila- you have an awesome - customized traveler's notebook for a steal!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope this inspires you to get a new little mini book started. I'm thinking of using mine for a special '25' mini book to document this year but I could also be persuaded for it to become my #littlesummerjoy project too. I'm still on the fence but I'm glad I got cracking on the cover at lease! Let me know if you have any questions or comments below!
