'LOVING' Scrapbook Layout
Hey there lovelies! I'm back this week sharing a layout titled 'LOVING' featuring my lovely nephew from our most recent outing in NYC. This layout was inspired by the class I'm taking over at Studio Calico called 'Design School' and it's really been inspiring me to remember that scrapbooking isn't much different than graphic design. I've finally realized that it's totally awesome to approach my layouts how I would approach a task at work and this is helping me find new sources of inspiration and excitement to create. I'm finally feeling some mojo and have kicked the lull of inspiration to the curb – thanks Studio Calico! This layout is a simple take on scrapbooking using a full page image as the background and a boat load of sequins to create movement and interest throughout the page. Check out all the details below!
The basis for my title is the stamp set that I pulled the 'Loving' from– it's a Studio Calico stamp from their Canyonlands Scrapbook Kit and then I finished it off with some handwritten journaling around the circle. I placed my title in the central white space of the photo because I knew I would be creating movement around it and replicating the circular shape of the stamp with circular sequins. To match the gaze of my nephews stare I started drawing lines away from his face to create a nice movement throughout the layout and direct your eye around. I placed a plethora of sequins in orange, pink, and blue around the layout both on the lines I drew, and around them–interspersing large and small sequins until it looked balanced. I finished the ends of each line off with a small heart and I'm obsessed with this little touch! The very last thing I did was stamp the date on a label from my August Kit 'Elementary' and stapled it on with my tiny attacher. I absolutely love how this layout turned out and I can't wait to create more layouts with full page image backgrounds. It's a totally unique look in my album and I think it will create awesome rhythm if I intersperse them with more traditional layouts.
