Happy Mother's Day + NSD Challenges
Hi All, because this week is a little different we're going to mix it up and skip the Sunday Sketch! Instead I have a little round up of the NSD challenges I posted on Instagram yesterday (in more detail here!) and a little shoutout to all the Mom's out there!
I first want to say Happy Mother's Day to anyone out there who is/ or was a Mom - I think you are single handedly the strongest people on the planet and I would like to especially thank my Mom for putting up with my crazy ideas and always allowing me to follow my dreams! Thanks, Mom!!
Now on to the scrapbooking!
The first challenge I took part in was hosted by Color Cast Designs and she challenged us to create a layout using the colors from her logo! I gotta tell you - as I was plucking supplies from my stash I wasn't really sure where this layout was headed but I sure do love where it ended up!
The labels that I scattered throughout the page were all from a cut-apart label sheet from Studio Calico's Film Club Kit. The polka dot ones I cut from a 6x6 Dear Lizzy Fine and Dandy Paper Pad using the already cut label shape as my template. Next I just scattered them - almost like bricks throughout my layout trying to balance the colors evenly. I threw my 5x5" image into the lefthand corner and then placed my title "& We Munch" in Studio Calico thickers - also from the Film Club Kit. Then I finished off the spread with some fussy cut doodle hearts from the Arendal Studio Calico Kit and some vellum hearts from the March 2015 Messy Box which I attached with white brads from the same kit. That about wraps it up! I hope this is a challenge you may take on too! The colors turned out darling if I do say so myself!
To start this layout I used the Williamsburg Alphabet Set from Kelly Purkey in her teal stamp ink. I stamped all the 'Hello' parts first with only one L and then dropped the second one in after. I then followed that with the Greenpoint Alphabet Set in black Staz On ink. For the 'O' I stamped in the middle with the sun from the Done and Done Kelly Purkey stamp set (Sorry no longer available!) and then did a doodle outline with my zig photo pen around the outside. I trimmed my 5" x 5" photo into a circular shape and adhered it on the right side. I then scattered and tiny attached some confetti from the March 2015 Messy Box. To finish everything off I scattered some red enamel dots and finished a couple of the confetti pieces off with teal chipboard pieces from Studio Calico. The last touch was some hand lettering around my photo (again with the Zig pen) and doodling a 'frame' around it with the same pen to give it some emphasis on this quirky page!
* SOME OF THE PRODUCTS LISTED ARE AFFILIATE LINKS. I RECEIVE 4% WHEN YOU PURCHASE PRODUCTS THROUGH THE PROVIDED AMAZON LINK. I HAVE USED AND LOVED EVERY ITEM SHOWN AND WOULD NOT SUGGEST WITHOUT TESTING EACH PRODUCT FIRST, OR WITHOUT USING THEM WHILE MAKING THIS PROJECT. AS ALWAYS, I APPRECIATE YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope these layouts and challenges get your creative juices flowing and again, sending love to all the mother's out there - you deserve a fabulous holiday today!
