December Daily Week 1
Hi lovelies! Today I'm sharing the beginnings of my December Daily® album for this year! I've switched up my album slightly since I prepped it but I'm really digging the simpler format this year that I described in that post. For the majority of this album I'm using one photo per day paired with hand-written journaling and I'm loving this approach so far! See below for even more details and I hope you enjoy!
For the first page of my album I adhered this adorable wood veneer reindeer from the Target Dollar Spot onto a piece of heavyweight vellum that I hole punched to fit into my album. I then adhered a red sequin to his nose to make him rudolf and I absolutely love it! I'm still contemplating adding a title like 'December Memories' or something–maybe cutting something out of white cardstock with my silhouette, I just haven't gotten around to it yet!
For the second page after that, I arranged a flat lay photograph with all the Christmas-y items I picked up (again, thanks Target!) for present wrapping/the sake of being festive. I've attached a label that I stamped and cut with the Kelly Purkey stamp and cut set and the ink is the gold Ali Edwards Ink.
On the reverse of the flat lay photo, I included my intentions for the year which I hand lettered into the shape of a tree! You can buy your own digi version here if you're interested! And here is where it begins my 25 stories! As I mentioned in my prep post, I'm using the acetate numbers from Seven Paper as dividers and I just love the transparent element and the fact that you can see through them to the photo/story of the day. For day 1 I pulled a story from right after Thanksgiving when we took my nephew to see Santa. It was a blast and a story I definitely wanted to include this year. I did my journaling on a 3x4" card from the Kelly Purkey mini kit available in Ali Edward's shop.
On the back side of the journaling card, I adhered a simple striped card and placed a glitter ornament (another Target Dollar Spot find!). Then I included the group photo we got with santa in a full 4x6" size.
On the reverse of the photo I simply adhered another page protector to it and inserted two 3x4" photos of my nephew talking and posing with Santa and then begins my day 2.
On day two I went to a new restaurant with my cousin who was in town visiting and we got these incredible milkshakes (shown in the picture) I wrote how the season is all about indulgence sometimes and that's okay–especially when family is visiting!
This is the beginning of the more standard format I intend on following for the season–one 4x4" photo with journaling for that day on the reverse side. Here I've just adhered white cardstock to the reverse of my photo using my Creative Station (this thing is a God-send!) Then I drew some lines, stamped the date at the top with my Staz On ink and wrote my journaling by hand.
Day three was a lovely restful Saturday at home so I included a photo of the magazine I was reading that day and I journaled about that as well as the Christmas movies I had watched that day on Netflix and a little about how I was feeling that day!
Bring on day four and beyond! I'm not quite caught up yet but I'm okay with that. I'm taking this project one day at a time and focusing on the stories I want to tell and how I want to tell them. This isn't perfect or complete by any means and I'll still probably go in and embellish more but I'm off to a good start and definitely can't wait to keep going!
